'Sex Therapy' by Robin Thicke — Can it be called a 'Song Crush' if the feeling never goes away? by Enyjé Sandoz
The winner of the sultry category is undoubtedly Robin Thicke. Actually, he owns it. If my declaration is not enough to convince you, I strongly urge you to listen to his 2009 hit record, Sex Therapy.
Now, you understand why this entire blog post is dedicated to this one song.
As I tweeted, it’s not just the lyrics; it’s not just the way he’s singing it; it’s not just the musical composition — IT IS EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SONG. Married together, these factors create the most hypnotic, tantric, and transcendental song. It is one of those songs you do not want to sing along to because you want to catch every nuance, but every now and then when you are not listening to it, you hum out one of the melodies. One thing is for certain, it is impossible to listen to this song and not want to move your body to the beat.
I have an unspoken five times minimum of listening to this song consecutively whenever it pops up in playlist shuffle — it’s just that good and will never get old.
As I am typing this, I am listening to the track, and I am finding it hard to articulate or focus — this is the effect of this song. A one-way ticket to be transported into the music; you are not lost, but you certainly do not want to be found.
Robin Thicke is a rare musical gem. He possesses the ability to envelop listeners in his music. His soft, angelic tone contributes to the ambiance, and his lyrics are deeply personal yet have the flexibility to be personalized for whoever is listening. He is one of those artists whose music cannot be replicated, even by the most talented of the talented, because his music only sounds appropriate coming from him.
As an avid Wikipedia peruser, I was not shocked to see that his R&B background runs deep as he was discovered by Brian McKnight at the age of 14, whom he sang background vocals for on various occasions. Robin Thicke also co-wrote and produced for other R&B artists, such as Brandy, before becoming an artist himself. It was practically destined and no surprise that he would continue to make music in the R&B genre as an artist.
‘Sex Therapy’ is just one song from Robin Thicke’s catalog, but it speaks volumes and can stand alone. Another song of his that I love is Lost Without U, but it is evident I love Sex Therapy far more.
It will continue to go down in history (especially in my book) as one of the greatest R&B songs.
Truly obsessed with this song. I have to minimally listen to 5 times — AT LEAST!!! pic.twitter.com/WG9rvFCPrT

It’s so crazy how he completely transformed “It’s My Party” by Lesley Gore into a seductive song.🙌🏾🔥💜
