The Perfect Brand for the 2025 Met Gala's Dress Code: Tailored For You.
Earlier today, I tweeted my observations about an influx of designers dressing people in suits. I hypothesized it correlates with this year’s Met Gala on May 5, 2025, dress code: Tailored For You, coinciding with its new exhibition, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’. As stated by the MET, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism.” This year’s dress code is an ode to suiting and menswear. Since its announcement on October 9, 2024, I noticed an emphasis on suits — on and off the runway.
For example, this past February, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were seen sporting dapper looks while celebrating her 37th birthday. The businesswoman, entrepreneur, and mogul, alongside the new creative director of Ray-Ban and co-chair of the 2025 Met Gala, both wore Saint Laurent.

With the sudden emphasis on menswear and suits, I veered off and thought of a brand I have been following for the past year or two: LA VOÛTE by Adrienne Bailon-Houghton. It is a vegan leather brand line, featuring apparel, handbags, and jewelry. LA VOÛTE has rebranded office attire. It's chic yet classic and offers an edge to the everyday look with bold colors such as Bordeaux, and its focal point to accentuate the essence of women's bodies of all shapes, sizes, and curvatures. As owner, Adrienne Bailon-Houghton stated in her International Women’s Day Instagram post: “I literally made all of the pieces I wanted to wear! lol. Happy Women’s Month! Clothes made for women by women…”
How dope would it be to see LA VOÛTE — a Woman of Color-owned brand, featured on this year’s Met Gala carpet? I cannot think of a more fitting brand.
It is truly the first that came to mind!
Is the recent influx of designers dressing people in suits/dapper-looks preparation for this year’s Met Gala? 👀
