The 'Greatest Song of All Time' Title Belongs to Mariah Carey by Enyjé Sandoz

If it were humanly, scientifically, and logistically possible to live inside a song, I’d volunteer as tribute to claim Till the End of Time by Mariah Carey as my new residence. As the sole resident of Till the End of Time, I no longer have to daydream because I live in the ultimate fantasy

At this point, all of my social media platforms are an ode to this song. Every time I listen to it, I rave about it on Twitter — each time, I am saying the exact same thing, but only because I do not believe people truly understand what I am articulating. So, I will say it again:

This is the greatest song ever created in the history of music.

I often describe this song as otherworldly, ethereal, or angelic, but to be completely fucking honest, there is not a single description that can encapsulate the soul of this song. Mariah Carey is unreal, and this song is the proof.

When I say: I’ve never experienced love at first sight — I am partially lying (well, not really, but kinda— still do not know whatever that was), but if I were to say: I’ve never experienced love at first listen, I’d be committing perjury under the oath of Till the End of Time because I fell in love with it on my very first listen.

Unsuspecting me back in 2020 was on the prowl for a music refresh in the greatest genre of all time: R&B. Truthfully, I do not know how I stumbled across this song, but it had to be kismet. I remember being in the car with my earbuds, and suddenly I felt like I was listening to my heart speak for six minutes straight.

In that moment, I realized… I had not even scratched the surface of Mariah Carey’s discography (I love me some Emancipation of Mimi) if the song of all songs managed to fly under the radar for the past 29 years (mind you, I am only 23— soon to be 24 years old next month), at the time, and even today. This song is not discussed enough or at all, especially when the topic is vocals, love, emotion (the literal namesake of this album), passion, what it means to yearn, and be hopeless, yet still somehow dignified in the pursuit that it does not come off as desperate.

Mariah Carey issued a master class, and not a single student adhered to the lessons administered because, as mentioned before, this is the greatest song ever created in the history of music.

I have dedicated this song to my husband-to-be, whoever the very lucky fella may be. This song is sacred. Truthfully, as poetic as I am, I do not know if I possess the language in my lexicon to do this song justice. In the same breath, just go listen to this song, and it will certainly do all of the talking.

Mimi,

Thank you.

  1. After this, now I have to go and really listen to the song. It always makes me cry as soon as I hear the music. Don’t no why!🤷🏽‍♀️ Then, I start focusing on why I’m crying and not the song.🤣 So, I’m going to do my best to listen without crying.🙌🏽 And, yes! He will be very, very lucky times infinity to have you as his wife!!💜
