Without a doubt, it would be my mother. Over the years, I watched her navigate the professional realm as a housing expert, realtor, and entrepreneur. While our career paths are different, her level of professionalism and approach to her career is not only inspiring but also like having a built-in mentor. As a child, I remember the weekends my sisters and I would spend in her real estate office, the showings we would tag along to, and the different facets of her event planning business we would be there to witness. As the observant child I was, I retained all of that information, and I still carry it with me to this day. Presently, I find myself listening in admiration as she conducts her day-to-day responsibilities and operates as the leader she is.
When I interned in the Summer of 2023, I remember being complimented for being an initiator and asked how I came to be this. I responded it was a 50/50 thing. On one hand, it is natural for me — a personality trait, the other half comes from how I was raised. Growing up, my mom used to always say: "Be proactive, not reactive", and it was not something I only ever heard her say, but her actions exhibited this.
She is a risk-taker, pioneer, visionary, and go-getter (among all of the many other traits she embodies), she is truly a phenomenal woman.
